I was able to talk to Evelyn when I finally got to visit her after finding a free time on my schedule. I kind of felt bad that it wasn’t even a social visit, but rather a business visit. One of my partners in a project asked me to deliver a few papers to Evelyn since our client was Evelyn’s brother. And it’s the only reason I was able to see her again. Evelyn was one of my childhood friends. She didn’t belong to my group of friends, but we’re quite close. However, we lost contact during college and just managed to bridge that gap a few years ago when we bumped into each other at the local grocery.
I didn’t want to make Evelyn feel bad so I stayed for an hour even though I had a lot of things to do back then and I really should have gone back immediately. We had a bit of catching up to do so I gave myself an hour to at least ask her how she’s been doing.
We had a bit of a talk for a few minutes before she told me she knew I had to leave (whew). However, she said I should at least have something before I leave so she served me this really moist home style caramel cake. I don’t indulge myself with caramel desserts, but this one was an exception. It was so good I had to ask for another slice.
This caramel pound cake is perfect for a relaxing afternoon tea. Get a good book, make yourself a cold glass of lemonade, and then have a slice of this decadent cake. I am sure you’re going to have one perfect afternoon. In fact, I recommend that you make two of these delightful caramel pound cakes because they go fast and you’ll find yourself craving more once the first has been eaten. You really have to exhibit self-control with this delicious pounder!
