In the United States, a stroke is the leading cause of serious, long-term disability in the U.S.
The Daily Health Post claims that dates are the best foods to prevent strokes, as well as high cholesterol levels, and high blood pressure.
Dates are a rich source of nutrients and contain 6 vitamins (like B6), 15 minerals ( such as iron, potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium, zinc), as well as antioxidants and fiber.
The high magnesium content of dates prevents strokes. The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published a study which found that the intake of 100mg of magnesium daily lowers the risk of a stroke by 10%.
One ounce of these beneficial and delicious fruits provides multiple heart-healthy nutrients along with vitamin B6, which removes the amino acid homocysteine from the blood, that has been linked to the onset of cardiovascular diseases.
