Almond is the dominant flavor in this cake, and wow, does it shine here. The simple cake base is made with flour, sugar, melted butter, eggs, almond extract, and a splash of vanilla. You then mix up a topping of egg whites, powdered sugar, and sliced almonds. Spoon the topping over the thin layer of cake batter and pop it in the oven for about 25 minutes.
