Directions:

  1. Prepare your fresh cut flowers by trimming the ends off and rinsing them in water.
  2. Fill a vase with 8 oz of water, then 1/2 tbsp of peroxide (if you need more water, keep these ratios. For instance, you can use 16 oz of water and 1 tbsp of peroxide).
  3. Add your fresh cut flowers to the peroxide water.
  4. You can repeat these steps every few days.

How Long Will This Last?

I had these flowers in a vase for about 3 weeks and there was no mold growth!

Eventually the blooms started to wilt, but I didn’t get any yucky water this entire time. I clean out the vase every 3 days and redo this solution when I have fresh flowers.

Things to Keep In Mind for Adding Hydrogen Peroxide To Fresh Cut Flowers

Hydrogen Peroxide Is Reactive To Light

The reason peroxide is stored in dark bottles is how reactive it is to light. It will decompose when it is exposed to light overtime. You will probably be using a glass vase to add your fresh cut flowers, so it can deactivate the peroxide over a few days to a week. I personally change out this solution every 3 days or so. This works great for my blooms! Once I tested out keeping this water and peroxide solution alone for a week, and it still worked. Just keep this information in mind!

This Can Also Boost Blooms

It is a known fact that hydrogen peroxide boosts blooms. The extra oxygen molecule enhances growth and color for flowering plants, and this includes fresh cut flowers too! You can watch the coloring of your fresh cut flowers deepen when you use hydrogen peroxide like this.
