It seems like everyone’s grandma always had a little crystal bowl of dinner mints set out on the coffee table, but it was extra special if grandma was the type who made these soft, creamy homemade Cream Cheese Mints. They melt in your mouth and belong much more in the candy category than they do in the breath freshener one. They’re easy to make, cute as a button, and work for any occasion (just switch up your food coloring)!
All you have to do to make these beauties is beat together some butter, cream cheese, and powdered sugar until it’s smooth, and then stir in some food coloring and peppermint extract.
You roll the mixture into little balls and then flatten each one with a fork, which creates an adorable shape.
And your work is done! They hang out on a wax paper-lined baking sheet until they’ve dried out a bit and then they’re ready to serve, crystal bowl or not.
They’re a very quick confection to make – they take only fifteen minutes or so to actually create – but they feel so festive and special. Their tender bite is as refreshing as a typical candy mint, but much more soft and melty.
