New England Clam Chowder Soup in a Bread Bowl

This is one of my husbands favorite recipes. In fact, he makes this recipe a lot himself. It is so good on a snow day that you are stuck inside and feel the warmth of the house and the beauty of the snow. It is one of these recipes that give you a warm feeling inside. It is also good anytime you want to taste such a wonderful soup.
-**lunchlady1, I crumble the bacon and add it in when I add the roux, chopped clams, and half and half, and let it simmer. I also sometimes add in a couple of teaspoons of the grease from the bacon. Adds such a delicious, savory flavor 🙂 This is my favorite clam chowder recipe, with bread bowls or without 🙂
-I plan to serve the chowder in bowls also. I think the bread bowls although very cute would be too much bread for us. I really don’t see how it would make any difference to how the chowder would taste. Do you?
-This was absolutely delicious! One of the most tasty, savory chowders that I have ever had. Definitely a keeper, thanks so much for sharing!
