One day, a pair twins surprised the staff working at reptile-specializing animal rescue, Garden State Tortoise LLC. It was a rare phenomenon, as two twins were actually stuck together! You wouldn’t expect tortoises to have twin trouble – especially not in egg structures!
The founder, Chris Leone, had a single egg belonging to the Western Hermann tortoise species – but the birth was unexpectedly halted, causing the two to be seemingly glued to each other.

Two infant twin tortoises were stuck in just one egg – can you imagine that!

To assist the tortoise twins in their quest of separation, Leone and his crew had to tie some dental floss around them to facilitate easier detachment from one another. It was a huge success – and the twins are growing up well!
