Living Wall Out Of Pallet Wood

We laid them out to figure out the finished size I was going to need which was 20 by 34

Then we cut all the pieces 34 inches long

Next we nailed them together on the back with a 2 1/2 inch piece of wood from the pallet

We made sure all the ends were even by using a straight edge and then we nailed them with about a quarter inch gap between them

Then we did the same on the other end

Then we sanded the whole thing just to knock some of the really rough spots down

Next we added wood aging accelerator to the raw edges so they would blend in with the rest of the aged wood

Then the whole thing got 2 coats of polyurethane

After we laid out the ceramic planters, we marked where each screw hole would be located

Since pallet wood splits pretty easily, we pre-drilled the spot where each screw was going to go

Then we numbered each planter based on where it’s located on the pallet because each planter has a slightly different hole configuration

Then we put in the screws

We screwed it to the wall making sure we went into the studs

Once the planters were all planted, we just hung each one on the screws in the order we noted on them

And here is the finished living wall

That we made in a few hours

Out of old wood we had laying around!
