Our home wasn’t built with a fireplace and we always wanted one for a more cozy feel and to add character to the room. I found a free fire surround on marketplace which motivated us to get this project done in time for Christmas!
This was the current area in our living room that we used as a ‘mantel’. I always decorate this space and it’s central in the room so the fire surround would go centrally here also.
This is the fire surround that I found for FREE on marketplace. Initially I turned it down and is isn’t solid wood and I wanted a wooden piece. But after thinking about it I decided to go for white which meant I could paint it and it didn’t matter that it was veneer. And fortunately the piece was still available!
