These oatmeal cookies are both delicious and satisfying. The use of chocolate chips is a great option for those who don’t care for raisins… Of course, I like to add chocolate wherever I can! Reviews :
– I made these tasty cookies today. Got 52 pieces! I don’t use shortening in or on anything. It’s either oil or butter. So I used butter. I added cinnamon like somebody had suggested. I didn’t notice somebody’s post saying if butter is used to omit the hot water. Maybe that’s why mine spread a bit more than I expected. But non the less these were delicious & easy! Thanks Judy for posting!I made these two days age but I didn’t have shortening or old fashioned oats.
– I just used 1 cup of butter and 2 cups of the quick cooking oats. They turned out fine. Have a few left and they are still soft and chewy, just the way we like them.
-If you can find it you can use a product called Lighter Bake which is an oil replacement product made from apples and plums. I can’s find it anymore so I made my own version. It’s not as good but it works. It’s like a thick apple butter. I would think in an oatmeal cookie you could use that, however there would be added sugar. Just a thought.
