If you brush too fast, at least go for soft bristles.
Do not be fooled by any commercials saying medium or hard bristles are fine. They can damage your gums and cause wear on the root portion of your teeth.
Do not brush aggressively.
Instead, you should focus on brushing thoroughly. Removing plaque does not require speed.
Thankfully, proper brushing is easy to do if you are willing to follow the rules.
First, you should transition to using soft-bristled toothbrushes if you still haven’t. In addition, hold your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle towards your gumline.
Finally, do not slide your brush back and forth across your teeth when you brush.
The correct way is to apply short strokes instead of long slides. Also, use scrubbing motions and apply only a light amount of pressure when you’re brushing your gums.
