Bacon And Brown Sugar Smokies

When it comes to snack-sized meats, one that often inspires greatness are mini sausages, commonly known as Lit’l Smokies. These are making an appearance again and again in appetizers and retro recipes that many of us remember fondly from childhood. There’s a number of ways to serve these – the simplest being simply warmed and plucked with a toothpick, then dipped in a favorite sauce, like barbecue. Another serving option would be to wrap them in a pre-made dough and then baked, which we all affectionately call pigs in a blanket”. And perhaps our most favorite way to serve up these mini meats is by wrapping them in bacon with a sprinkle of brown sugar. The end result is pure snack heaven. Here’s how we do it.

Bacon. Brown sugar. Mini sausages. That’s it. Three ingredients that come together in a trifecta of deliciousness. And you don’t need the Big Game as an excuse to serve these up – although we know that makes for a pretty good excuse. Not only are these the perfect sized nibble for an appetizer or snack tray, but they’re also amazingly simple and out-of-this-world good. Without question, these are the first to disappear from the table, so consider making a double batch, as the likelihood of eating just one or two of these is super slim.

Whether we’re watching our favorite team play or hosting our own game night, these are the perfect way to keep the crowd happy. Part of hosting any social gathering is putting a little something on the table for guests to nibble on. Most of our get-togethers are informal, but we like to serve more than just a bowl of chips and dip. When we’re looking for a winning combination of good times and good food, we look no further than a bacon wrapped mini sausage topped with brown sugar. These are a guaranteed win!
