Mom’s Hermits

Cook time: 15 Min Prep time: 15 Min Serves: 3 dozen
3/4 c crisco shortening
3/4 c granulated sugar
3/4 c light brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
3 c all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon, ground
1 tsp ground clove
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 c dark molasses
1/8 c cold black coffee
1 c raisins
1 c walnuts, chopped
1. Preheat oven to 375*F.
2. In a medium bowl, cream together the Crisco, white sugar, light brown sugar; add beaten eggs and set aside. In separate bowl mix together dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture. Stir in coffee and molasses.
3. Add raisins and nuts.
4. Use a small ice cream scoop to make cookies or drop by tablespoons on greased cookie sheet; brush top of cookies with eggwash.
5. Bake for 10-15 minutes.
