Easy Fruity Pebbles Cake

Ingredients
Cake:
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
Frosting:
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar add up to ½ cup extra sugar if you want it on the thick side
  • 1 cup 2 sticks salted butter, softened
  • 4 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 box Fruity Pebbles Cereal
Instructions
Cake:
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour two 8 inch round pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine flour and baking powder, add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
  3. Stir in the milk until batter is smooth. Pour batter into the prepared pans.
  4. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven. Cake is done when it springs back to the touch.
  5. Remove cake from pan and cool.
Frosting:
  1. Whisk milk, flour, and salt together in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Keep stirring until the mixture gets very thick and bubbly.
  2. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
  3. In a mixing bowl using an electric mixer beat sugar and butter together until smooth and creamy. Beat in the cooled flour mixture until it is light and fluffy. Beat in the vanilla.
  4. Frost cakes and place on top one another.
  5. Sprinkle Fruity Pebbles over top and sides of cake
