6 Household Foods That Will Easily Help Get Rid Of Ants

We have continuously mentioned how grossed out we can get from mosquitoes and gnats roaming around your house and/or garden throughout the spring and summer months. We have also provided numerous solutions on how to get rid of these insects from your home so you can peacefully enjoy your summer without the bothersome buzzes and constant swatting. But what about a cure to get rid of ants?

Ants don’t make any sound, show up whenever/wherever they please, and will happily infest an area in your home or on your patio. There are so many DIY solutions to getting rid of ants as well, but if you don’t want to make anymore solutions than you already have, then there are actually foods right from your kitchen that you can use, to fend them away!

Experts have put together a list of 6 foods you can use to ensure that ants don’t get anywhere close to you, your family members, and your home, this summer. And we’re sharing those secret foods with you below:

Oils like peppermint and tree tea are ones that ants consider poison. So take a cotton swab and simply dab your baseboards with a little bit of this oil and watch them run away.

2. Vinegar

I must say that I SWEAR by vinegar. It’s such a versatile product to have at home, and for your anti-ant regime, mix one part water with one part vinegar, mix this solution into a spray bottle and spray the area where you notice the ants. They’ll be gone in a couple of days.

3. Citrus Peels Solution

Like vinegar, citrus peels consist of a lot of acid and ants hate it. Steep citrus peels in water overnight and add the mixture into a spray bottle. Spray where you see ants.

4. Baking Soda and Powdered Sugar

Everyone loves baked goods (and we’re sure this includes the ants) but these pesky critters don’t like the ingredients that make up, say, chocolate cake? Mix one part baking soda with one part sugar and leave the heap on the floor. The sugar will draw the ants to this mountain of powder, and the baking soda will finish them off.

. Lemon Juice

A mixture of lemon juice (because of the citric acid) and water will fend ants off in a jiffy.

6. Cayenne Pepper

Sprinkle this pepper where you see ants and they’ll never dare come back—the spice level is way too high!
