Next measure and add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar.
Then add 10-15 drops of your favorite essential oil.
This step isn’t required to steam clean your microwave, but I like the way it makes my kitchen smells as the mixture is heating.
I like to use fruit scents when cleaning the kitchen, my favorite being lemon for this job.
I also love using essential oil to make my own fabric softener sheets.
Before adding the mixture to the microwave drop a toothpick into the bowl.
Sometimes if liquids get superheated in the microwave they can explode. In this case, drop the toothpick or a small wooden spoon.
Having the toothpick in the dish helps the bubbles form around the toothpick, preventing a boilover or explosion.
Add the bowl to the microwave and heat for 3-5 minutes. Then let it sit in the microwave, with the door closed for another 2-4 minutes. This added time allows the steam from the heating process to loosen any stuck-on food.
While the water mixture is heating and steaming, clean the outside of your microwave.
Carefully remove the bowl from the microwave- it will be hot
Using a wet cloth or wet paper towel wipe the walls, plate, and, inner door of the microwave.
In a matter of minutes, your microwave is clean, and you didn’t have to scrub.
