So much can be written about baking soda and it is definitely one of the highly utilized and important cleaning products. Along with its numerous uses around the house, it is cheap and free from chemicals and synthetic odors.
It is capable of so much more than soothing the upset stomach, putting out fires and cleaning.
Baking soda is a chemical salt with plenty of uses. Due to the alkaline properties, it can break down proteins and neutralize acids. Also, it is a potent deodorizer because of the neutralizing properties.
When baking soda is added to water, it stabilizes the pH level thus increasing the effectiveness of the laundry detergent. If it is added to swimming pool, it will balance the pH level and it will make the water clear.
However, there are plenty of other uses for baking soda, such as:
Baking Soda in the Kitchen
1. Freezer/Refrigerator
To remove the odors, place an open box of baking soda in the freezer or refrigerator. Make sure you change it every 2 months.
2. Stained Coffee and Tea Mugs
Combine water and baking soda and make a paste. Apply the paste on the interior of a mug and let it sit overnight. The next morning scrub the mug and rinse.
