Woman Who Found Abandoned Baby Bird On A Busy Street Makes An Extraordinary Discovery

In Louisville, Kentucky, one woman who just got off from her busy day at work noticed something lying helplessly on the ground. It wasn’t a cat or a dog that needed her help – it was a young chick, a bird!

The young chick seemed to be unable to fly – which led the woman to presume that it had most likely fallen out of its nest. The bird was not a common one, as it was a falcon!

She phoned Raptor Rehab, which is a well-known local rescue organization specializing in predatory birds. The staff applauded the woman’s quick wit and haste to call for help – as the young falcon would not have survived on its own.

The young falcon soon got a much-needed medical examination, some food and water and of course, a cosy blanket to nest in!

The young falcon was frightened of the woman at first, but soon warmed up to her after realizing that she merely wanted to help him.

The staff realized that this bird was actually a young American kestrel, which is a smaller breed of falcon which originated in Europe. American kestrels have luckily, already adapted themselves to live within the hustle and bustle of city urbanity in comparison to their European counterparts.

The woman named the young Kestrel Viktor, meaning ‘winner’ in Latin. How suitable!

However, Viktor had no home – until a kind-hearted feathered pair residing in Raptor Rehab decided to act as his foster parents.

The two resident adult falcons named Jack and Pinky Lee delicate their life to adopting young chicks in need, raising them until they become independent enough to fend for themselves! Thanks to his rescuer, Viktor has a new life, away from the streets!
