Look at the Beautiful Piece

Sanding

All sanded!!!

So lesson number one I learnt – fusion mineral paint doesn’t need a base coat unless the seal on the wood has been broken – and then the natural tanning agents come through the colour!

in this case because the colour was soo light in certain parts it turned yellow!!!

which after fully finishing I had to go & prime & re paint parts of it!!!

lesson learnt!!!

I wanted to keep some of the original colour for contrast & to appreciate the natural wood –

So I frogtaped the drawers & varnished the insides

2 drawers varnished!!!

Metal pint for the handles

These were tricky to paint and to get in around the little nooks and crannies!!!

All done!!

Frog tape over the varnish for the crisp line!!!

First coat!!!

The tricky bits always need frog tape!!

first coat going on the stool

Those beautiful details!! N

First coat!

Side by side

one down one to go!!!

Second coat mixed with a top coat complete and ready to dry!!!!

Second coat & top coat mixed in!

all done !!!

it was after this I had to prime & repaint parts of it – I didn’t document it as it made me sad!!! But again lesson learnt!!!

lesson number 2 when someone gives you a piece of furniture taken apart – put it back together to make sure it hasn’t swollen with moisture!!!

which in this case this drawers had swollen so we’re a bit tight – but we sanded them enough that the slid in thankfully!!!!

Put the drawer handles back on!!!

Wood glue whatever needs to be stuck!!!

Look at the line!!!!!!

Close up of the paint! It is a very pale blue – some people think it looks white!!!

it’s called Little Whale from fusion mineral paint! N

I love the contrast of the old and the new colours!!!!

How stunning

I am obsessed with how this turned out!!!

it was super hard work but so worth it!

Here it is with the stool recovered!!!
