Amish Yum Yum Salad

It’s no secret that we love our classic comfort foods around here, and today’s recipe is just that. This Amish Yum Yum Salad is a staple in Lancaster County, combining sweet and creamy flavors in the most delicious way. It’s often served as a side dish in the Amish community, but it works just as well as a dessert. Bring it to your next potluck or family dinner and it’s sure to be loved by all.

This dish requires very little stove time, but you will need some patience between steps. To start out, bring the water, pineapple (with juices), and sugar to a boil, whisking often to ensure the bottom doesn’t burn. Once the mixture has boiled for a few minutes, remove it from the heat and whisk in the orange jello until fully dissolved. Then, allow the mixture to cool and thicken for about 30 minutes in the fridge. In the meantime, blend together the cream cheese and heavy cream in a separate bowl until nice and smooth.
